I have an artistic license to kill: Let me tell you about my library... →

my-vital-signs:

So I have an hour between classes and I didn’t have/didn’t want to do any work so I went to Mugar (BU’s main library) and poked around the displays. I knew we had some pretty cool shit but seriously my mind was just blown! Let me tell you a little about this collection (at least what I remember in my brief 30min walk through). We have:

-Fred Astaire’s tap shoes, signed inside

-Ginger Roger’s Oscar, not to mention 4 other Oscars

-11 Emmys, 10 belonging to CBS and 1 belonging to ABC

-A personal letter from Katharine Hepburn to Ginger Rogers

-Ginger Rogers roller skates and mass amounts of various other Ginger Rogers memorabilia, a lot of it either very personal or very valuable

-12 Golden Globes, one of which belongs to Peter O’Toole

-About 10 or so Tony awards

-Elie Wiesel’s humanitarian award

-Other awards including the Chicago’s best Actress award, Berlin film festival award, The JFK Center for Performing arts award and many many more (some probably more impressive than those)

-50 pens used by Lyndon B. Johnston

-And just crazy amounts of memorabilia, personal letters, awards, stage passes, photos, articles, posters, scripts, clothing, china, furniture, sculptures from/by/about a whole slew of famous people in a number of fields.

And nobody seems to appreciate this here because we’re jaded and forget about it when we go into the library.

I just find this collection so crazy and cool…ahhh I love my school!

All this & more (and you can visit, too.)
